TOTAL KNEE REPLACEMENT

Knee replacement represents the only possible therapy in cases of advanced degeneration of the joint.
It involves the surgical replacement of the articular surfaces of the femur and tibia with artificial components in order to reproduce all the movements of the arthritic joint as faithfully as possible .
The total prosthesis is made up of several components:
The femoral component, which replaces the articular surface of the femur, is inserted in direct contact with the bone after removal of the arthritic cartilage, and reproduces the anatomical shape of the femoral condyles.
Femoral component
The tibial component, which replaces the articular surface of the tibial plateau, is fixed to the tibia after removal of the articular cartilage.
Tibial component
The tibial insert is fixed to the tibial component and, congruent with the femoral condyles, articulates with the femoral component
Tibial insert
The patellar component that is applied to the articular surface of the patella after removal of the articular cartilage.

BEFORE THE SURGERY
Before surgery, your doctor will advise essential tests such as blood work, ECG, and X-rays to assess your overall health and fitness for the procedure.
If you have chronic conditions (cardiac, respiratory, or renal), a specialist consultation may be required.

Prepare your home in advance to ensure a safe recovery and reduce the risk of falls.

Carry with you:
Medical reports, list of current medications, identity documents, health card, and any assistive devices (braces, crutches).

Surgery duration may vary. You will be closely cared for by the medical and nursing team throughout.

YOUR NEW JOINT
Total knee replacement surgery has become a very common and safe procedure to aid in the treatment of severly damaged knee. As a matter of fact, it has been used by orthopedic surgeons for nearly 50 years! Patients who receive a total knee replacement may experience significant benefits, including
REDUCTION IN KNEE PAIN
Pain may be rapidly and dramatically reduced or eliminated.
REGAINING MOBILITY
You may regain significant mobility with your new knee!
IMPROVEMENT IN QUALITY OF LIFE
Your everyday activities and social life may no longer be limited by pain and reduced mobility.

Metal hypersensitivity might arise from prolonged contact with metals, This affects about 10% to 15% of the general population

ASK FOR OUR NON ALLERGY GOLD KNEE
In knee replacement surgery, certain advanced solutions help reduce the risk of metal hypersensitivity and related complications.

To address this, Plus Orthopedics has developed the BioBond ZIVA finish—a highly biocompatible, gold-toned coating that acts as a protective barrier between the implant and surrounding tissues.

This reduces metal exposure and makes BioBond ZIVA–coated implants a preferred choice, especially for patients with potential metal sensitivity, while also eliminating the likelihood of post-operative hypersensitivity.
